The location worked really well for us, with a One Stop by the building and several restaurants nearby. It’s also handy for getting into the city centre. A kind man at the desk let us check in a little early, and the staff were friendly. Our room was spotless on arrival, attractive, and had a very comfortable bed, plenty of plugs, and a kettle with the usual tea, coffee and sugar. The standard Wi-Fi worked, though it was weak at times. The drinks menu was good, but the vegetarian food choices weren’t great, especially if you don’t like spicy food, so we ate elsewhere. That wasn’t a big problem with restaurants close by. A few things could be better. We were two adults staying two nights, but got three towels: one used as a floor mat, one hand towel, and just one for after showering. It was disappointing not to have a proper shower mat, especially as cheaper hotels I’ve stayed at have provided one and enough towels. The shower gel and shampoo were combined in a fixed dispenser. I know I could have brought my own, but I’m used to hotels providing small bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. My thick, wavy hair tangles easily and conditioner helps. Washing my fringe in the sink was awkward: I had to go into the shower to get some on my hand, then step out to wash it. The shower also only turns on once you’re inside, so you get hit with water before it’s at a comfortable temperature. There was a hairdryer, but it was very weak even on the highest setting, with poor airflow. The harsh puff barely dried my hair and still tangled it. I’ve had better at cheaper independent hotels. Despite those issues, I’m glad we stayed. For a reasonably priced weekend in the city centre, I’d recommend it. If you want luxury, you may want to look elsewhere. I booked a standard room, so perhaps the more expensive rooms are nicer. My partner and I still had a lovely Valentine’s weekend, and I don’t regret the stay.

I waited to post until I’d contacted customer service and given them a chance to respond. Their reply was just as poor as the original handling. My room was boiling, even with the air conditioning on full blast, and I had one of the worst nights of sleep I’ve had in a long time. When I raised it with the team, Joseph told me, “This has been passed on to management team,” then closed my case. The customer service was poor, and the Good Night Guarantee felt meaningless. I wasn’t after a refund; I just wanted to know my complaint was being taken seriously and the problem might be fixed. This was the worst Premier Inn I’ve stayed at for room quality.

It’s in a great location, but the welcome and hospitality could be better. I wasn’t offered help when I was struggling with my luggage and trying to open the door. Check-in also felt inflexible: arriving 30-60 minutes early meant I couldn’t get access unless I paid an extra fee. That left me with a worse experience and an unwelcoming impression.

The room itself was fine and I slept well, but I won’t be staying at a Prem Inn again. I paid £195 for the room and expected to be able to get breakfast. At check-in I was told breakfast wouldn’t be available until 8:15 because a large group was staying, which didn’t work with my 8:25 train. They said I could pick up coffee and a pastry on the way out. I went down just before 8 and the restaurant was quiet, but when I asked for food they couldn’t find my name on the list. They started trying to figure out why, but I was short on time and told them not to bother. Normally I wouldn’t comment over breakfast alone, but at that price I expected to grab something.

The bedroom was clean and the room was huge, and the staff were helpful and around whenever needed. My husband and I enjoyed four nights at Premier Inn Coventry City Centre, Belgrade Plaza. We were initially unsure about having to book a breakfast time slot, but it worked out fine and the staff were very friendly. The carpets on the bedroom floors could have done with a hoover. Apart from that, everything was great.
