Royal Court

The hotel was bigger than I expected after booking through Groupon, and there was plenty of parking. It’s a bit out of town, but a nice spot for a relaxed night away. The room was lovely, and there are two nice bars. We didn’t have time to try the spa. Dinner was a good value three course buffet, though just an okay meal for the money. Breakfast was buffet style as well. Some other guests were rude, had no manners, and swore at staff. That aside, we had a lovely, relaxing stay.

We held my nan’s wake at the royal court, and the staff were so kind and attentive. They went out of their way to make it personal for our family and a fitting celebration of her life. The room was lovely, and the Royal court’s decor helped create a beautiful atmosphere. I really appreciated everyone’s effort and would highly recommend the venue for any kind of function.

The room on the top floor is clean and tidy, with a comfy bed and a very nice bathroom. Dinner last night was excellent, hot and tasty, and breakfast this morning was just as good. There’s a nice swimming pool, and the public rooms are okay, though some places need a deep clean. The lifts especially aren’t clean at all. For what we paid, I can’t complain. Maybe we’ve just been lucky.

There’s plenty of seating in the bar, and it’s laid out well, though the space has little atmosphere. The room was dated but large and clean, with really comfortable beds. Having a proper bath was a luxury. The food was plentiful and well cooked, but a bit beige and uninspired. More fresh salad and vegetable choices would help. The roast meats were delicious and served well. The hotel could be lovely with a bit of effort, but there seemed to be too few staff and too many glitches. The people I met were nice, but didn’t seem invested enough to really make things work. The wheelchair lift was out of order for the entire week we stayed. I had an accident during the visit and needed a large plaster or dressing. There were three first aid kits, but none had a plaster. Eventually the receptionist found one. It took ages to get an accident form, and the receptionist seemed unsure what to do. The accident happened because of a faulty chest of drawers in the room. I’m not sure they understood that or fixed it.
