For our anniversary we booked the superior suite at the Seagoe, and it’s such a lovely, spacious room. The hotel has a great atmosphere, and the staff were kind and accommodating. They left us a plate of treats spelling out Happy Anniversary, a small gesture that made our stay feel much more special. We’d recommend it to everyone and will definitely come back.

We’ll definitely be back soon for another meal, and I’ll pass the good feedback on to family and friends. There were four of us for Sunday lunch at the seago, and every meal was fabulous. My roast beef came with all the trimmings, and the knife went through it like butter. They also made my mother, who has celiac, a stunning turkey and ham dinner that she was very pleased with. The desserts were stunning too, and the waiters and waitresses were helpful and pleasant. Coming in from the cold, wet rain, we could feel the warmth of the restaurant straight away. Thanks for a lovely Sunday lunch.

The portions were so disappointing for the price that we left and went to McDonald's for more food. We won’t be back to the seagoe, and I wouldn’t recommend it. My wife and I stopped in for lunch. The menu looked broad, and while prices were higher than most places, I was willing to pay if the food justified it. We ordered a chicken stack and a prawn salad, which took about 20-30 minutes to arrive. The chicken stack had one small scoop of champ, an incredibly thin slice of chicken and lots of pepper sauce. My wife’s salad came with a tiny square of wheaten bread and just a few prawns. Neither portion would fill anyone. I have a small appetite and usually struggle to finish restaurant meals, but I ate mine. The small portion was tasty, I’ll admit, but the amount of food for the price was not worth it. If it had felt worth the cost, I’d have had no issue paying it. Having to get more food after going out to eat was not what we wanted.

For a casual coffee and catch-up, the coffee area just inside the hotel on the right is inviting, with first-class service and the usual tray bakes, scones and croissants. I’ve only been here socially for coffee and once for a Rotary event. It’s well appointed and laid out, and clearly caters to weddings and corporate events as its main source of business. Parking is the downside. A single large corporate event can fill the car park. I can’t comment on the dining room food, but the overall atmosphere, facilities and friendly, efficient staff are appealing.

The staff took everyone’s dietary needs seriously, and our whole group enjoyed the food. We had two vegans, someone with serious gluten intolerance and coeliac disease, a moody teenager and two kids with us. My girlfriend and I had the vegan nut roast wellington, which was absolutely delicious. It was refreshing to see such care and quality in a vegan dinner, with a good selection available too. We celebrated with family here on Saturday night during a very busy Halloween night, but everyone in our group was looked after brilliantly. The staff even happily took some photos of us. We’d gladly recommend the restaurant. Keep up the great work!
