Hampton by Hilton London Croydon

Breakfast was very good, and Manoj made us a delicious strawberry waffle and brought me a cappuccino. The staff were excellent throughout. We had an Aircon issue, but they brought extra duvets and a heater to keep us comfortable, and offered to move us to another room if we wanted. The room itself was good, and we had a really good two-night stay. We’ll definitely come back next time.

I live and work locally, and the hotel’s location feels particularly safe to me. East Croydon is a nice area, and the nearby station makes it easy to get to other parts of London. The town centre and South Croydon are also close, so it’s handy for tourists too. I’ve stayed here more than once, and the service and cleanliness have been consistent each time. The hotel is lovely, affordable, and the best I’ve tried in Croydon. Reception staff are all lovely, and Manoj on breakfast is sweet and caring. Breakfast is included at a really good rate.

We skipped the buffet and took an Uber into Paris for brunch at a really nice restaurant. Later, the shuttle brought us straight to the terminal for our flight. The room was great, quiet, and in a nice modern hotel, and the showers were great too. I’d highly recommend it.

The biggest issue was the room door. On the second day, staff brought in a portable heater while I was out and didn’t secure the door. I came back to find it unsecured, which was a serious privacy and safety lapse. I’m not sure I’d stay again after that and the lack of proper climate control. The staff were consistently friendly and genuinely tried to help. When I reported the broken thermostat, they quickly brought a heater, though the window had been left open when I arrived and the room was freezing on the first night. Breakfast was disappointing. There wasn’t fruit salad, yogurt, or other continental food. There’s a DIY waffle station, but if that’s not what you want, the choice feels limited. The English breakfast wasn’t the best, but it did the job.
