Breakfast was freshly cooked and one of the best we’ve ever had. We also tried afternoon tea for a special occasion and were not disappointed. The property is kept to an exceptionally high standard, with outstanding rooms and easy access to Windermere. Caroline and Jonathan were incredibly welcoming. It’s our first visit, after a close friend gave us a one-night stay with afternoon tea as a silver wedding gift. We added another night, and we’ll definitely return. The AA five-star rating is well deserved.

The grounds were stunning, especially in spring. We all gasped as we drove in. Jonathan and Caroline were gracious, hilarious hosts who helped us find food and things to do nearby. Our rooms were cozy and nicely decorated, and breakfast was delicious and beautifully laid out. My friends and I couldn’t have chosen a better place for our Lake District holiday together.

Jonathon made us feel at home straight away. He was warm and efficient, carried my bag to our room and suggested dinner spots that turned out to be fabulous. We loved the convenient on-site parking and the location made exploring the area easy. Breakfast each morning was fresh, lovely to look at and clearly prepared with care. Housekeeping kept our spotless, comfortable room immaculate, even tidying it while we were at breakfast. We stayed at Cedar Manor for our mini-moon, and it was perfect from arrival to departure. We were welcomed with the chocolates we’d requested and a thoughtful bottle of champagne, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The interiors are elegant, cozy and beautifully maintained, with attention to detail everywhere. A true gem with luxury, comfort and charm. We can’t wait to return and would recommend it for a romantic, relaxing getaway.

The afternoon tea at Cedar Manor completely exceeded my already very high expectations for my friend’s 80th birthday treat. I’d assumed all teas were much the same, with little sandwiches and tiny cakes. Then, after a small elegant cup of butternut squash soup, they brought a miniature fish with two tiny chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce. We’d been joking that we were taking her for fish and chips on the jetty, so we nearly fell off our chairs laughing. It was posh Borrowers fish and chips for sophisticated tiny people. Superb. Sandwiches came next, then cakes on a three-tier stand that looked straight out of Downton Abbey. The scones were warm, wrapped in a towel to keep them that way, and served with clotted cream and strawberry jam. There was rhubarb crumble, Eton mess, choux buns with crème anglaise and lemon meringue. I only sampled each because I’m diabetic, but asked for a doggy bag. The tea selection was incredible, with unlimited tea or coffee. I had English Breakfast, my friend chose Earl Grey, and my husband ordered something quite exotic instead of his usual coffee. He loved it. Jonathan, the owner, was attentive without intruding, and the service was exceptional. The small boutique hotel is beautiful, with exquisite decor. We especially loved the bar, its wood carving and gorgeous leather detailing across the front. The grounds were immaculate too. We inspected them closely while sitting on the lovely patio in the sun, sipping our last glass of fizz for the day. The owners really do notice every little detail. Highly recommended.

The hotel is stunning, with beautifully designed rooms, an elegant, calming breakfast area and a private lounge that’s lovely for cream tea or wine by the fireplace in the evening. It’s centrally located in Windermere, within easy walking distance of restaurants, pubs and shops, and there’s a bus stop right outside. We stayed to celebrate my partner’s 30th birthday, and the team made the whole visit special. They handled every request and gave us fantastic local recommendations, making it clear that all we had to do was ask. Caroline and Jonathan made us comfortable and created a warm, relaxed atmosphere while taking care of every detail. Housekeeping was efficient and kept to high standards, and the chef made a 10/10 breakfast each morning. The pancakes were the best I’ve ever had, without a doubt. I rarely feel amazed by an entire stay, but this was one of those places. It’s a weekend we’ll never forget.
