Alison House Hotel

We spent a couple of nights here for a friend’s wedding, and the friendly staff made the whole weekend special. Our room was perfect, with a comfortable bed and lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The hotel sits in beautiful grounds, yet it’s only a short walk into Cromford. We had an amazing time and will definitely return.

We’ve been lucky to use Oakhill for several events, and we’ll keep coming back. It’s a stunning venue in the derbyshire dales, surrounded by gorgeous, neatly kept gardens, including a walled garden that’s perfect for wedding photos. The rooms are very comfortable, each with its own style. You can see the care and attention to detail in how Oakhill is family owned and run. The staff are brilliant at what they do, nothing is too much trouble, and as a guest you can just relax. We especially love the delicious Sunday roast. Thank you all for always making us feel so welcome.

I was there for work this week, and I really didn’t want to leave. We were welcomed like regulars and shown to our rooms personally, a lovely first touch. My room, number 7, was spacious, spotless, and had everything I needed. The views were beautiful, though work meant I didn’t get to explore as much as I’d hoped. The hotel, service, atmosphere, location, and food were all stunning. Dinner was a real highlight: I’m a big foodie but fussy, and the chicken tacos were 10/10, probably the best I’ve had in the UK. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their different dishes too. I loved that the menu says where the ingredients are locally sourced. The attention to detail was second to none. I’ll have to come back, and I’m booking a stay with my husband soon.

The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, especially when we mentioned someone in our group had mobility problems. The gardens are beautiful, the rooms are well decorated and looked after, and the food is fantastic with generous portions. A really good hotel.
