Leonardo Hotel East Midlands Airport

After a long day of travel, it was lovely to have a very comfortable bed and a hot bath. The hotel was surprisingly quiet despite being a short walk from the airport. Checking in online meant my room key was ready with no delay, and Emily kindly carried my heavy suitcase up the stairs.

In January 2026, we stayed the night before an early flight. Departures are just a few minutes' walk away, about five minutes. We ate in the bar from a good menu. The food was very good and arrived quickly even though it was busy, though these are hotel prices. We had a small problem getting the heater to work, but it was fixed quickly and efficiently. This was our first time at a Leonardo Hotel, and we were so impressed that we've booked our sons for the end of the month and ourselves again in March. Definitely recommended.

The staff's attitude and service were brilliant, especially after the nightmare of a Ryanair flight. The Night Supervisor at reception made arrival easy, and checkout was friendly and efficient. At breakfast, George was particularly attentive, cheerful, welcoming and effective, and really made my morning. The room was comfortable and I slept very well. Nothing to criticise, and the stay slightly exceeded expectations.

The hotel's a great-value, well-run place with everything you need, and it's my go-to when I need an airport hotel. The location is superb. From the bus stop across the street by the petrol station, it's an easy walk. The front desk was lovely and got me checked in quickly, and they offered information about the restaurant and booking a table. I booked for one and got a large room with a double and a single bed. It's a great arrangement for a family or a small group of pals to share. My friends and I have used that layout before and it works well. The linens and towels are always crisp, clean and soft. The bathroom was clean but showed wear and could use a refurbishment. In room 116, the shower head could use descaling because the water jets off in different directions. It still gets the job done, isn't scary, and has good pressure and temperature. A big plus for me: the plug drains perfectly. There's tea and coffee in the room, too. One issue I've found both times is that some bar staff avoid eye contact and don't come over to customers waiting at tables. I had to go to the bar to order drinks and food, even though I'd been told someone would take my order at the table. Prices are moderate and the food is good. I haven't eaten in the restaurant itself; I understand it opens after 6pm and requires a reservation, so I might try it on my next stay.
