Travelodge Derby Cricket Ground

The room was basic, the WiFi costs extra and the food menu is limited, though Nandos is about a mile away. On the plus side, there’s free parking, a good breakfast served early, an Indian restaurant downstairs, and the location is handy and easy to reach. The first room I was given hadn’t been cleaned or prepared, but reception found me another without any fuss. The new room was spotless and comfortable.

I’ve stayed here several times and absolutely love the place. The new manager was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Amy, who’s been there for years, has always gone above and beyond and gladly done anything we’ve asked.

From our fourth-floor room we had a great view of the Cricket ground. The room is what it is, just reasonably priced, and doesn’t pretend to be anything else. My only criticism is that it’s chilly, with only a small plug-in electric heater. There’s no hair dryer either, so if you have long hair, bring one.

The rooms were adequate and clean, and the reception staff were amazing, welcoming and very apologetic about the other staff member’s behaviour. I was astonished to hear Mike talking about smoking weed before work. The way he spoke in general was appalling. When I asked about him, I was surprised to learn he was the assistant manager.
