Premier Inn Matlock

After a long day, Abi welcomed us and we had a nice meal. I slept really well again, and the breakfast had an excellent choice, including fresh fruit and cooked options, which I took advantage of with the offer. Good value and service, and there’s plenty of free parking on site. Thank you, I’d recommend it.

We’ve booked Premier Inns for twenty years and have always had excellent service, from check-in to check-out, and could count on a clean room. We’ve stayed at this Matlock place before and were happy, but our visit on 20 February fell below the usual standard. Check-in was very slow, and the room wasn’t ready by the promised 3 pm check-in. When I paid in advance for dinner and breakfast, the woman tried to book them separately, and I had to ask for the combined deal. The bathroom floor hadn’t been cleaned properly, and there appeared to be small blood stains on the bedding in three separate places. Service in the restaurant was inconsistent, though the man working there was very attentive. We didn’t report the problems because it was a short stay. We usually visit every year, but I’m not sure we’ll return to Matlock.

It was okay, and the location’s great for exploring Matlock, Matlock Bath and the dales. I still can’t get used to these new rooms without windows. The climate control doesn’t work for me, and with self check-in I saw just one member of staff the whole time. Honestly, I won’t be back. It’s not for me, but don’t let that put you off, it could be your perfect place.

We came in with our family for breakfast while passing through, only planning a quick stop. We arrived just ten minutes before breakfast was due to finish, so there wasn’t much left. My two boys are vegan, and when we asked, Katie the chef made them a brilliant breakfast with all the vegan ingredients they needed. Tammy at the desk and Zeb were super friendly too. The three of them turned that quick breakfast into a really lovely part of our day. Incredible staff, and I’d recommend it 10/10!
