The Kenmore Club

The view from our apartment was amazing, and the wet, windy Scottish weather didn’t spoil our stay even though we couldn’t use the balcony. We were there for two nights from 14th March, our first visit, and we’ll definitely return when the weather’s better. The apartment was spotless, the rooms were just right, and the beds and pillows were comfortable. The staff were so friendly.

The setting is beautiful, with amazing views over Loch Tay and nice walks nearby, and the staff were friendly, helpful and informative. We had a lovely, clean two bed accommodation for the six of us, including our two friends and two children, and it had everything we needed. We booked the weekend as a birthday treat for my wife. The pool was a decent size for a short getaway, the hot tub was hot and working, and I really enjoyed the sauna. There’s no steam room, which suited me as I’m not keen on them. Hotel towels cost £2 each, so we brought our own. We took snacks for the room and got a takeaway from The Plaice in the Square, Aberfeldy on Friday, since the hotel restaurant was shut for its staff spring break. On Saturday we had a really nice dinner at The Courtyard across the road. We also managed to arrange a late checkout on Sunday, which was great. This won’t be our last visit to The Kenmore Club, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The place is in a stunning setting and was pleasant enough for one night, but we never got our 100 pound deposit back after staying in October. We definitely cleaned before leaving, as required, but apparently they won’t return the bond if you don’t. The hot water lasted about five minutes, and the fold-out couch our kids slept on was uncomfortable. You have to book particular times to use the pool and other facilities, so we didn’t bother.

We came for a holiday, but the checkout left us feeling completely disrespected. We left at 11:00 AM instead of 10:00 AM and the receptionist confronted us in a harsh, aggressive way, as though we’d committed a crime. We’d forgotten the time, even if it had been mentioned at check-in, and there was no information written in the room. She said she’d tried calling, but the room phone was broken, something I had specifically reported to staff the day before. Their internal communication had failed, and she rudely told us the note “never reached her.” As we left, nobody even said goodbye or wished us a safe trip. It wasn’t about money, it was about the complete lack of respect. There are plenty of other fantastic club hotels, and we’ll definitely never come back.
