I went in expecting to have lunch and a pint, then carry on with my day. It was a quiet Thursday, though, and I was enjoying the fireplace so much that they let me sit there all afternoon. The proprietor was a generous, lively host, which made a cold day of sightseeing much nicer. I'll be sure to stay at Dornoch Castle next time I'm in Scotland. Sorry I couldn't stay that night. Cheers, friends.

We still enjoyed our stay, and the restaurant staff were friendly and efficient. The food was good, and the location was excellent. The room had some problems, though: the bathroom was so cold that a bath or shower seemed out of the question, and the bin hadn't been emptied after the previous guests. The bedroom was chilly too, with shredding net curtains and a stained carpet.

My partner and I live locally, so we tried the hotel's Christmas meal package to reheat at home. Everything from starter to dessert was lovely, beautifully presented and clearly made with care. The portions were just right, and it came with fresh bread rolls, prosecco, and home-made tablet. It was worth every penny and a great choice for anyone who'd rather not spend all of the 24th or 25th preparing and cooking. Thanks to the staff and chef for all the effort and joy.

The castle is gorgeous, and the staff were patient and wonderful with our party for my mum's wedding on the 20th of October. One staff member in particular looked after us so well, even bringing a bottle of champagne to our room, though I can't remember her name now. Breakfast was my one small gripe. I'd have preferred a full fry-up, but that's just me being greedy. There was a great spread of fruit, pastries, bread, and cereal, with bacon and eggs available too. A really fantastic experience, and thanks to all the staff who helped and put up with our shenanigans.

The whisky bar and its cosy roaring fire made a lovely place to spend a cold Hogmanay evening. We stayed over Hogmanay and had tip-top service at a lovely hotel. Our room had a complimentary dram, sweets, tangerines, and biscuits, along with tea and coffee. Breakfast was tasty, with cooked and continental options, including pastries. On New Year's Day they also offered complimentary Presecco or Bucks Fizz. If we're back in Dornoch, we'd stay again.
