The room was noisy for most of the night, with repeated banging and scraping. I suspect it was another guest, but I barely slept and didn’t enjoy the stay. The staff were nice, and the hotel was full because of flooding in the area, so they were probably run off their feet. There was a mix-up at check-in: I was given a key card and room number, but the card didn’t work on the fourth floor. After going back downstairs and queuing, another staff member said I’d been assigned a different room. It got sorted, but that shouldn’t happen. In the dark and rain I also couldn’t find the poorly signposted car park, so I used the railway car park instead. The noise seemed to be the main problem, rather than the hotel itself.

The room was spacious and airy, with good climate control and a decent shower. I found it just right. The Brewery quarter is a lovely spot, though parking is limited and you may need to walk a bit. Reception wasn’t staffed, so I had to buzz several times, which was annoying. I skipped breakfast because I was fasting, but I’d return.

Underground parking was convenient, and it’s an easy walk to the museums, shops, and nearby places to eat. The room itself was clean and quiet, with a well-equipped setup and a very comfortable bed. The staff could use some training. Even though I’d emailed and asked in person for clean towels by 4pm, we had to go downstairs to ask again. When we returned, our room key didn’t work.

The room was clean and pleasant, and breakfast was fine. We’d booked the meal deal, but the evening food was a real letdown. It was the worst prawn cocktail and fish and chips I’ve had at a Premier Inn.

A dependable, standard Premier Inn. There’s underground parking, but only around 32 spaces for 80 rooms, so it might be worth booking ahead. We stopped on the street outside to check in, then drove around to the car park.
