Dinner and breakfast were both delicious. Our updated room was quiet and comfortable, and everyone we met, staff and guests, was really friendly and welcoming.

The shower was lovely, and reception staff were friendly. I was here for one night for a work Christmas party. The room was clean and comfortable, especially good value for money, and breakfast came out promptly. I'd definitely stay again.

We were done and out within 50 minutes, £118 later, and didn't stay for dessert. It was meant to be a festive celebration, so that was disappointing. Five of us came for a meal and the food wasn't great. My husband and I ordered the festive turkey dinner at £21 each, with two undercooked potatoes, carrots that were watery, and watery gravy. When he told the manager the portions were a bit stingy on potatoes, the manager said nobody else had complained.

Breakfast was excellent and set us up well for the day. We slept soundly in a quiet, comfortable, very clean room, with no noise from other guests or the road. Tea and coffee were provided, along with a biscuit. We arrived a little early and the room was ready, with no extra charge. We had a tasty dinner in the lounge bar, with a great menu and quick, friendly service. The background music was quiet and the atmosphere was nice. A friendly, welcoming place, much better than the big chain hotels.

The upstairs function suite at the Abbotsford hotel worked well for a wake after a funeral. It was practical, with two large round tables arranged nicely for ten people each. Sandwiches, sausage rolls and fancy cakes were served, and the bar was well stocked. Staff were attentive without intruding. A good spot for mourners to reflect on the day.
