Our room was filthy, with dirty sheets, stained towels and no hygiene products at all, not even toilet paper. It clearly hadn't been cleaned or prepared properly. The hotel has two buildings. Some of my family were in the main one, while my husband and I were put on the ground floor of the building beside it. Around 2:30 AM, voices and noises outside the window woke me, and I was shocked to see a man trying to climb in after opening it. We tried calling the police but couldn't get through, so we rang the front desk. They said he was “just another guest” trying to get into the building. That response was completely unacceptable. We stayed awake the rest of the night, frightened and feeling exposed and unsafe. We only booked here because there were no vacancies within 100 miles that night. I would gladly have driven another hour instead of spending the night in such a distressing, unsanitary place. Don't stay here under any circumstance.

A massive storm blocked the roads, so there was no way we'd reach the Lochway Hotel in Dumbarton in Scotland before 10:30 PM. We called after booking to ask for a cancellation and refund, since getting there would mean another hour of driving in hazardous conditions with no guarantee we'd have access. The staff refused to help, and we had to sleep in our car. Their lack of understanding or flexibility in exceptional circumstances was unacceptable. I strongly advise against staying here. The hotel's policy seems more focused on profit than customer well-being.

We booked three rooms for one night, but on arrival the staff told us there were none left. We pointed out that our money had been taken and asked how we were supposed to get it back. After going back and forth, they said they could give us two rooms, so two people had to share. I checked booking.com and saw they still had three twin rooms, a family room and a triple room listed. They didn't seem willing to help and kept blaming booking.com.

We chose this as the last hotel of our vacation because it was cheap and close to the airport. That was a mistake. Our room was in the upper building, which you have to walk up to, and the wifi didn't reach there. We found old shampoo bottles and a hair elastic in the shower. Breakfast was okay, though the coffee tasted instant. We won't be back.

Friendly hosts, easy to get to, and our room was clean. But the hotel is quite remote, with no attractions or places to eat nearby. Breakfast was included, though the basics, cereal, yoghurt and toast, were disappointing, and we even spotted mould on the toast. The dining area wasn't very clean either. Fine for one night, but it needs improvement.
