Best Western Station

The room we were moved to was much more pleasant, and breakfast was nice, though service was a bit slow. One staff member seemed more interested in chatting than replenishing the juice, milk and other things. On arrival we were given a small, old-looking attic room that smelled of stale cigarette smoke. We mentioned it to the woman at reception and she quickly found us another room. The hotel feels a little tired overall, and a few minor things let the stay down, though we still had a nice time.

The people working here really made the stay. James was especially friendly and helpful, and seemed to be juggling all sorts of tasks and hats, a bit like Mr Ben. Thanks so much! It’s a peaceful getaway with great value, right beside a leafy walk that takes you to the river and then into town for beer gardens and places to wander. Highly recommend.

A pleasant three-night stay in a lovely old Victorian building, with a lift serving all three floors. The room was fairly spacious, and the staff went out of their way to help. Thanks for the ice! The inside is looking tired and could use some TLC. At the moment they only do breakfast, as there’s no chef for evening meals. There’s a pleasant seating area indoors or outside.

Awful. The management had a bad attitude, the rooms were dirty and poorly cleaned, and the food was poor. It was cold, and there was no warmth in the welcome over Christmas. The place urgently needs refurbishment: sofas were torn, chairs were dirty, and light bulbs were missing throughout the hotel. Breakfast was put in front of me without asking what I wanted, and they refused me a boiled egg. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
