Premier Inn Dundee West

We stopped here on the way to a funeral, mainly to change and get a hot drink. It was early and the place was empty, but the staff were helpful and accommodating as usual. There’s plenty of parking, with a sign-in system to avoid charges. The building itself feels tired and could use a makeover.

The price was reasonable, the service was fine, and the location worked perfectly for me. The parking setup was a nuisance, though: there are only two charging points, and staying longer than 240 minutes means a charge or fine. That’s awkward when you’re there overnight in very wet weather, especially if it’s late and you can’t leave the car where it is.

Our Saturday dinner plans fell apart when we arrived at 7 pm and found the restaurant closed because of staff shortages or sickness. Only later did we hear the chef had been moved to another nearby hotel. Friday’s meal for the two of us cost £90, which I know is a decent price, but we should have been offered the Valentine’s menu and could have saved £20. The breakfast was the worst I’ve had: some parts were dry and others raw. Since it came free as part of a deal, we got no refund. Happy Valentine’s Day from Premier Inn Dundee.

The room was decent and the breakfast was great. Wi-Fi was fast, and the car park had enough spaces for the hotel and restaurant, though it can get busy. You have to enter your registration at the machine because parking uses ANPR. I arrived at 8 pm, so didn’t see much of the place. When I checked prices, this Premier Inn was a lot cheaper than the one by McDonald’s. Yes, I’d stay again.
