There’s a lot of potential in this great historic hotel, which goes back over 100 years. The US Navy was here in 1965. It’s beautifully situated with wonderful full views. The whole town seems to have been badly affected after covid, but efforts are underway to improve the city and its tourist attractions, and the hotel is working on improvements too. I’d strongly suggest putting a phone in every accommodation, since not having one can be a security concern, especially for older couples, and it would help with wake-up calls. A bellman could also help prevent accidents by carrying bags all the way to the 3rd floor. More attention at the bar and extra help on the floor would improve things, along with employee security and better hospitality. Focusing on each guest and making sure their needs are met could help the hotel do well. Good luck, hope to see you again. Keep up the great work 👍

The hotel has big rooms and plenty of character, and it was clean and warm. Staff were friendly and helpful. It's opposite the ferry terminal, and some parts are still being renovated.

This is a cheap hotel, and it does what cheap hotels do, so go in expecting that and you won't be disappointed. Even so, the staff gave us fantastic service, and we had a lovely night at the bar thanks to them. Fiona especially worked hard to make it a great experience. 10/10, would recommend.

I've been back to the Royal Marine quite a few times over the years, and the staff have always been lovely. I was there a couple of weeks ago and tried the new menu, which was excellent. It's a real gem, and they're doing their best to bring it back to its former glory, no easy job.

For this area the price was reasonable, since there isn't much around. The room was okay, though it felt a bit slapped together. The bathroom was very dark, with the mirror light working but not the ceiling lights, and the sink's hot tap was loose. It did what we needed, and it was great that dogs were welcome.
