The Kings Arms

The log fires were burning in all the bar rooms, which was wonderful on such a freezing day. We had a Birthday/Christmas meal, and both the food and service were excellent. There was a nice Christmas stout at the bar, too. It was hard to leave. Everyone in our party said they'd come back to this lovely rural pub. It's not too far from Melton Monday and the Vale of Belvoir, and well worth a visit.

The pub has a lovely British countryside feel and sits in a great village. The young woman who served Mum and me today was warm and personable. We enjoyed the food: I had the pulled pork burger and Mum chose the Red Leicester and chutney sandwich. They'd run out of salad for the sandwich but still charged the full, expensive price. The coffee machine was broken, so I can't comment on the coffee. The atmosphere was okay and the seats were comfortable. We'll definitely be back.

Thanks, Mark, for looking after us. The room was a good size and very dark, so we slept well. The brekky was yummy, and it's a great pub :)

I'm local and have eaten here before, usually enjoying my visits. But on our last trip, a Saturday evening, the service let us down. The food was amazing, though waiting more than an hour was too much. There seemed to be just one staff member on, and it showed. If that kind of wait for food is typical, I might think twice about coming back.
