The room service food arrived quickly and was really good. A little later, the receptionist came back because she’d left the chicken on the tray for the dog and forgotten to feed it. Luckily I could give it back to her. I was there because of a family emergency and needed to stay nearby. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the room was very spacious, though the walls had holes and patches of fresh plaster. The bathroom looked nice until I showered: there was a horrible greasy, fried food smell, and the towels had it too. I ended up showering at my family’s house because I didn’t want to walk around smelling like fried food. There was no extractor fan switch. The air conditioning unit was discoloured, and I was afraid to try it in case something blew out. The skirting boards were thick with dust and badly needed a deep clean. I asked if breakfast was that way and was told yes, but wasn’t given clear directions. I walked outside to the restaurant and found it dark with the doors locked. After wandering around outside, I realised it was across a gravel, wet track. By then I was annoyed and gave up.

The location worked well for what we needed, and the receptionist was polite. But the hotel and room made for a really bad stay. The corridor smelled awful, and the stink was creeping into the room. We even thought about putting a towel at the bottom of the door. Reception already knew about it when we told them. The room fixtures were broken or didn’t work, the air conditioning was out, and the old-fashioned heater wasn’t much use. The bathroom tiles were mouldy, and the sockets had old round-pin fittings. The place looks like it needs a major refurb. Other reviews praised breakfast, but we didn’t stick around to try it.

Dinner and breakfast were both high quality, and the service while we watched the bands was excellent. The room could use a refresh, but the dinner, show, bed and breakfast package made for a wonderful overnight stay. We’d definitely do it again.

After a long drive to the airport, we were exhausted, but Martin at reception made us feel at home straight away. Lovely guy, and a lovely stay last night 😊

The rooms are a little dated, but they’re fully fitted and functional. I stayed overnight for a concert.
