Braid Hills Hotel

The restaurant was the one letdown for us. The food didn’t quite match the rest of the hotel, and the menu could use improvement. We stayed at Braid Hills Hotel over Valentine’s Day on 14 February. The location was fantastic for exploring Edinburgh, with all the buzz right outside and beautiful views from the property. Our room had heating on all day and night, which made a real difference in the unexpectedly cold February weather. It was very comfortable and warm, and the reception was nice too. We had a very pleasant stay.

Free parking and good public transport links just outside make it handy if you want to stay beyond the city. The rooms we've had have always been clean, comfortable and warm, and the restaurant staff are friendly and welcoming. We’ve stayed at the Braid Hills many times and love it. Izzy and Jake at reception are great, really helpful. We’ve always enjoyed coming back and hope to do so many more times. Give it a go yourselves!

The location and staff are excellent. Izzy at reception and her colleague at the bar were both really friendly. The EV chargers in the car park are a big plus when travelling for work. My room was comfortable, and the chicken breast at dinner was lovely with a good, not-too-big portion. Breakfast was okay, though the toaster seems to be on its way out. The shower tray in the bathroom could do with replacing, and the TV didn’t work. Still, I’d happily stay here again :)

The bus stop into Edinburgh centre is right outside, down a flight of steps, and parking is available. The staff are great and make the stay memorable. A few rooms are a bit tired, but that feels acceptable for the reasonable price. I’d highly recommend staying here, especially if you’re visiting Edinburgh by car, since the city itself isn’t car friendly.
