The Royal Mile location made getting around easy. I could walk to lots of Old Town sights and into the New Town, with shops and places to eat right nearby. Waverley station is under a 10-minute walk away. If you have bulky bags, East Market Street is the easier approach because the paving is more even. There was loads of room to spread out, and the bed was really comfortable. I appreciated the storage and all the clothes hangers, plus the many power outlets. The kitchen area had a microwave, fridge and induction stove. I didn’t use them, but they’re handy options for travellers. The hotel also has laundry facilities and a fitness room with a few cardio machines and dumbbells. I only wish I’d stayed longer. Great value, and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

The location worked really well, right on the Royal Mile and close to Waverly station. My room was spacious, with plenty of storage and a fully equipped kitchenette. It felt like having a little place of my own in Edinburgh. Had a great stay.

Having a complete set of kitchen utensils meant I could cook my own meals, which I was very pleased about. The room was also really spacious. It’s on the Royal Mile and an easy walk from the station, so getting around was convenient.

The bathroom had a damp door, a persistent odd smell and a towel warmer that didn’t work. The toilet flush was so forceful that water splashed, and there was no phone in the room. Heating was limited, with no backup solution offered. For two adults staying three nights, there were only two coffee capsules, though these were described as a “welcome gift.” The rooms have coffee machines, so presenting just two capsules as a welcome gift felt particularly inadequate. At check-in, the occupancy issue was handled rigidly, with little empathy for our family. An extra nightly charge was first quoted at £30, then lowered to £20 during the discussion. The front desk communication came across as mean and unprofessional, and made the tension worse instead of sorting things out. The response after our stay was also unfortunate. It focused on explaining policy and shifted responsibility to the guest, without meaningfully acknowledging the service gaps. I came away feeling that policy enforcement and protecting revenue mattered more than guest care and professionalism. This wasn’t the level of service I expected from a 4 star property.

The Royal Mile spot is the big draw, right in the heart of Edinburgh. It was cheap enough, clean and well equipped, with a fridge freezer, TV, iron, and everything needed for self catering, plus soap and shower gel. There’s no room service, which I don’t think anyone needs every day anyway. The staff were really friendly and greeted me coming and going. I’d definitely stay here again.
