Eunice made the afternoon feel special. She was just as attentive when I came for tea with my brother and sister-in-law over a year ago, and I recognized her straight away. This time I was there with a friend on Saturday, January 10, after getting an Afternoon Tea voucher for my birthday. She’s warm and friendly, and clearly cares about guests enjoying themselves. We had a lovely time in the beautiful hotel. The food was very good, though the sweet bites seemed a little less fresh than I expected. Apart from that, it was a really lovely afternoon.

Chris was such a great host when we came back for anniversary afternoon tea. He even showed us around the grounds again, which gave us a chance to reminisce and made the visit feel more meaningful. We got married here a couple of years ago, so this place will always mean a lot to us. It was a perfect wedding venue, and the afternoon tea was just as wonderful on our return. Everything was amazing again.

The front desk team were professional and very helpful, and the hotel itself is beautifully decorated in a lovely setting. The cocktail bar and restaurant were a different story. I ordered coffee at the bar and had to ask for a spoon because there was nothing to stir it with. Later, I waited 15 minutes for someone to come over in the restaurant. No one did, so I left.

The room was spacious and we were pleased to get an upgrade at check-in. Breakfast was good, and so was the bar food. The manor house and grounds are beautiful. Dinner in the main restaurant was a real letdown. Some of the flavour combinations were odd, and their take on prawn cocktail was poor, just one prawn and a prawn head. It felt like they were pushing things in the wrong direction. We'd planned to try the Michelin Star menu too, but after that meal we chose to eat somewhere else.

We had a lovely breakfast in the breakfast room before our early flight, with a very comprehensive menu. The night before, dinner at Tudor Pass was creative, beautifully presented and delicious. Our room was comfortable, spacious and well appointed, and the staff across the hotel, restaurants and bar were consistently accommodating and helpful. We chose Great Fosters for its charm, English garden, on-site Michelin rated restaurant Tudor Pass, and closeness to Heathrow after returning from a Mediterranean cruise. The hotel is a 16th Century former royal hunting lodge, full of history. We arrived early before our room was ready, but were warmly welcomed and used the time to walk the gardens and have a drink in the bar. It was a wonderful one-night stay, and a unique, charming place.
