I got a great night’s sleep, and the evening meal in the restaurant was fabulous. The team there were excellent, and checkout was easy with another friendly welcome. I’d definitely stay again as a base when I’m in the Elgin area. I can’t comment on breakfast because I couldn’t have any before my hospital appointment. I stayed one night before an appointment at Dr Gray's, about a 20-minute walk away. The hotel is across the road from the railway station and Ember bus stop, so it was easy to reach. There are several stairs up to reception, where the lovely team explained where the restaurant and bar were and how to fill in the breakfast card. My room was a short walk away and looked fairly recently decorated. It had an ensuite, king-size bed, desk, chair, TV, comfy seat and wardrobe with sliding doors, with a kettle, tea and coffee inside. The window opened, and I could adjust the radiator to set the room temperature.

For a work stay of one night, this was a really enjoyable place. Everyone on staff was friendly and welcoming. My single room was spacious and very clean, and they could deliver food to the room at no extra charge. The WiFi was excellent too, and I uploaded several work files quickly.

The rooms were clean and a good size, and the food was good. There’s also a great whisky collection. Staff were very pleasant and competent, and the hotel was well run in every way. They even offer breakfast in the room, which is unusual these days, and it was done really well. Highly recommended in an area where places like this can be hard to find.

I was in the garden room for dinner with a friend tonight. The hotel is great, but the menu seems to stay the same. I spoke to the manager because, for the price of the prawn cocktail, I found the jar half full of lettuce, and the chicken was very dry.

We booked at the last minute because of an appointment at Elgin hospital. The evening meals were brilliant, and the rooms were spotlessly clean and tidy. Every staff member we met was friendly, polite and professional. I’d definitely stay again.
