The staff were brilliant and really tried to help when we raised the problem. We were given a very good discount when we checked out, which we were grateful for after such a stressful, sleepless night. We only stayed one night, and our upgraded superior room was lovely with everything we needed, though the pillows felt too hard and heavy and there were no alternatives. The hotel overlooks a lock, which was lovely to see while eating in the restaurant, and the food was good. There was a children’s party and an engagement party on, so the pool was busy and the hotel a bit noisy. The worst of it was a very rude neighbour opposite, who kept slamming the door whenever he went out for a cigarette during the night, until after 3am. We rang room service, but he wouldn’t answer his door. We didn’t get to sleep until 4:30am. We know the hotel staff weren’t responsible for his behaviour, and they were very helpful when we complained at reception in the morning.

The welcome was warm from the moment I arrived, and the service stayed great throughout my first visit. Everyone was lovely and welcoming. I only caught a few names, so thanks especially to Annalise, Kat, Piera and Dianne, and sorry to the rest of the team I’ve missed. I’d happily stay again when I’m working in the area. Keep up the good work, team.

We really enjoyed the warm pool, which friends and family had recommended. Louise from the waterways leisure club was especially lovely with my two daughters, who adored her. She was friendly, chatty, kind and really professional. People like her deserve a shoutout. Thanks again, we’ll keep recommending the place and look forward to our next booking. This time we’ll actually book! 🤣

The team here really made our trip. We’ve been to the area many times, and as Southerners we did wonder if the friendliness would be the polar opposite of the north versus south idea. Everyone was so kind and helpful, and seemed genuinely lovely. Well done to all of them.

Josie and her breakfast team were so welcoming, and the breakfast itself was really satisfying. Everyone we dealt with was friendly, from the front desk and bar to the restaurant waiters. I’d highly recommend this hotel.
