The car park was dark and the whole place felt unsettling, so I wouldn't bring children here. I also heard from another couple that their heater wasn't working in 6°C weather and they were turned down when they asked to move, despite the hotel seeming nearly empty. My own room was dirty and smelled bad, even though I'd booked a premium one. At 8 p.m., towels were scattered along the corridor. Sony at reception was very rude, raising her voice when I asked basic questions about the room and elevator, then saying I should have read about the hotel before booking. The owner, who was sitting at reception, was just as unhelpful and rude. This was one of my worst hotel stays. I recorded the interactions and was shocked by how they behaved. Dirty rooms, rude staff, an unsafe-feeling setting, and poor management. Save your money and stay away.

Breakfast was great value at £13, with hot food, cereal, yoghurt and drinks. My room was clean and nicely decorated, with a view over the river.

I didn't have breakfast, so can't comment on it. My front-facing room looked out over the park and river, though the single-glazed window let in traffic noise. They'd provided an electric fire, which meant there was still heat if the radiator wasn't on. The room looked just like the one in Ian Hatten's photos, and might even have been the same one.

There was plenty of parking, the rooms were clean, and breakfast was on offer. But sleep was another matter. My room was directly over the boiler room, and the radiator kept making loud, odd noises all night. I barely slept. The bed was uncomfortable and creaked a lot.

We went in on Tuesday for coffee as a group of seven, although not everyone had arrived yet. We often try different local spots for our weekly coffee mornings. The welcome was so rude: a miserable lady demanded to know what we were there for. When we said we'd come for a coffee
