Homewood Hotel & Spa

Breakfast overlooking the neat lawns and Freshford valley was a real highlight. The gardens are lovely, and there are country walks you can start right from the property before coming back to the house and the Somerset scenery. The spa is intimate and calm, with a heated outdoor pool that's inviting even when it's cool. I also liked the hydrotherapy pool and treatments. It feels relaxed and exclusive without being pretentious, and it's easy to spend an afternoon unwinding there. The rooms have plenty of character and feel comfortable as well as luxurious. Smeg coffee stations, modern sound systems and spa-style bathrooms bring high-end touches into the historic setting. Homewood sits in the rolling hills near Bath, and makes a restful, indulgent country house escape. A lovely choice for a romantic weekend or a wellness break.

That was such a cosy place to spend the evening. The wine and cocktail list is big, too. We had a perfect three-course dinner, and everything was cooked really well, with the flavours working so nicely together. We can't wait to return and spend longer here.

The grounds have a lovely sense of adventure, and the rooms are well kitted out, right down to a Smeg barista coffee machine. The spa was great too. I wouldn't have expected an outdoor pool to feel so inviting in November, and my wife and I both had excellent treatments. Anette looked after our group in the evening, and her wit and service really lifted the weekend. The other staff also seemed to enjoy being there, which made a difference. It felt like real service, without the usual corporate nonsense. This place has plenty of character, and the staff are a big part of that. A great hotel, lovely spa and decent service made for a smashing weekend. Many thanks.

We had a lovely cream tea in a beautifully decorated place, and the food was nice. It's in the suburbs of Bath, around a 15-minute drive from the centre.
