Best Western Frodsham Forest Hills Hotel

Chris, the duty manager, was incredibly courteous, both in his role and as a person. He’s a real credit to his colleagues and the company. We had a fantastic three-night stay with our two children, and our dog-friendly room worked well for us. There was a loose carpet by the door threshold, but reception sorted it after we mentioned it. On arrival, the staff were helpful, polite and informative.

The staff were pleasant and very helpful, and I enjoyed the breakfast. The main disappointment was that business guests can’t use the fitness and wellbeing facilities. The hotel was clean and tidy, but it feels dated now and the rooms could do with updating.

The family room was excellent, and the whole hotel was spotless, though the bathrooms could use an update. We found the food really good and the drinks competitively priced. The staff were amazing and the service excellent. It’s also a great base for Chester Zoo, about a 20-minute drive away. I’d definitely recommend it and will visit again.

I spent much of the night awake because the mattress was badly worn and uncomfortable, and the lumpy pillows made it impossible to settle. The ceiling lights were broken and hanging down, while the room seat had rips and the carpet was covered in stains. Noise from people revving engines in the car park late at night made the stay awful. Hotel guests also have to pay £5 to use the gym and swimming pool.
