The Lion at Pennard

My wife and I had one of the best Sunday lunches we’ve ever tasted, and the two lads serving our table were cheerful, helpful, and lovely. The pub itself is a beautifully restored traditional English place. The bar service, though, got off to a bad start. The youngish woman behind the bar looked very sour, and when my Pepsi arrived with ice I politely asked her to take it out. She rolled her eyes and poured the whole drink away. That was such a contrast with the lads serving food. I’ve given the service and overall experience four stars because of the bar interaction. Otherwise, both would have been five.

The view from our window across the garden to Glastonbury Tor was stunning. We stayed one night and loved every second. Our cozy room was beautifully decorated with lots of care and attention to detail, and had everything we needed. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the staff made us feel so welcome. Highly recommend!

This used to be our go-to place. The service and food were excellent, but sadly the customer service is poor now, the food is overpriced, and the menu feels repetitive. Such a shame.

We were so grateful they could fit our family of five in for dinner on a Wednesday night, even though we hadn’t booked after traveling all day. It’s a beautiful, historic building, and we had an excellent experience. The portions were generous and the service was great.
