Bulls Head

The meal was only just warm, nowhere near piping hot. When we told the young servers, after they asked if everything was all right, they said nothing and walked away. Why ask if they weren't going to respond? We were also told they don't serve coffee, which really isn't great. It felt overpriced for what we got, and we won't be back.

We were surprised to find the pub empty at 8:30 on a Saturday, since it's been busy on earlier visits. Still, the trek up is worth it. Both wood burners were going and kept the place cosy and warm, and there's a good beer selection.

We found a snug little room with an open fire where we could eat, and the welcome was warm and friendly. We hadn't booked, and at 6pm on Sunday we thought we might have missed out on a decent roast. The Bull's Head came through with a choice of roasts, all the trimmings and Cauli Cheese. Thanks Bull's Head.

The rooms were clean and tidy, and the small bar was attractive, but the lack of food on site meant we chose not to stay a second night. Breakfast is served elsewhere, about a 10 minute walk away, the Bull restaurant was completely closed, and the only option was an Indian restaurant over the other pub. We thought we'd booked a hotel with food service. If all you need is a bed, it's fine, but for a proper hotel experience I'd try somewhere else.
