Cliff Hotel

The waitress was cheerful, attentive, and superb. She was a real credit to the Cliff. The meal, though, was very poor. Someone at our table compared it to Wetherspoons, and that felt spot on. That's fine at Spoons prices, but at £20 a plate it's diabolical.

The roast was hot, delicious, and fantastic quality, and the staff were so welcoming, friendly, and efficient. We had a genuinely lovely afternoon at Christmas lunch at the Cliff Hotel. Thank you, team, and Happy New Year to you all!

Breakfast was a letdown. I was called "bud" when I walked into the room, which I don't think is acceptable. I ordered smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. It was edible, but not good by any standard. As I was leaving, the waiter shouted, "you owe me some money" across the room, and everyone looked over. I explained breakfast was included in the bill I'd already paid. He just said, "oh". The rooms look fine, but upkeep was an issue. The radiator in my first room was stuck on full and it was boiling, so I had to move. The replacement room had no TV reception either. I won't be back and can't recommend this hotel. This is 100% accurate and truthful. I stopped over on Wednesday 29th October.

The hotel itself is lovely, and the staff are lovely too. The food was amazing, though the breakfast cooking setup needs looking into. On the first morning, we were the only ones there for breakfast and they got my order wrong. They messed it up again on the second morning. We'd stayed about three years ago and loved it, so came back for our anniversary. This time, the room was disappointing and felt neglected. The TV didn't work, it wasn't properly clean, there was mould in the bathroom, and cobwebs in spots I'd expect to be cleaned regularly, like around the TV and mirrors. This was probably our last stay.
