Netherwood Hotel & Spa

The staff really made this Christmas break for us. Everyone we dealt with, from housekeeping and reception to the bar and restaurant teams, was friendly, attentive and happy to help. We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and both were hot, fresh and beautifully presented. Our room was warm and clean, with tea, coffee, milk and biscuits ready for us. The grounds and hotel were beautifully decorated for Christmas and very well kept, with a lovely bay-side setting. We came with our dog for two nights and already want to return. We didn't want to leave.

Sharon gave us such a cheerful, helpful welcome at check-in, and she always had time for a chat when we passed by. Wren looked after the room, and we met Rachel on our way out, another warm and lovely person. The rest of the team were fabulous too, and we really enjoyed the breakfasts and dinners. The hotel and its facilities were great. We usually stay at a large hotel in Windermere, so we're glad we gave the Netherwood a try. It's a grand old lady, and staying here felt like a privilege. The rooms feel very worn and badly need refurbishing. Even the shower looked at least 30 years old. The food was average at best, though the bar staff were lovely. I definitely won't be returning.

The staff stood out most during our afternoon tea. We met five different members of the team, and every one was welcoming and kind, with nothing feeling like too much trouble. They're a credit to Netherwood. The food was excellent, and the venue looked lovely with its Christmas decorations and two open fires. My friend had booked it for us while I was visiting. We couldn't fault the afternoon.
