The open fires and cosy sofas downstairs were a lovely bonus, and the room was lovely too, with a very comfortable bed and a powerful shower that got properly hot. We stayed two nights and had the best time. The staff were consistently friendly and accommodating, which kept everything relaxed and easy. The food was excellent, especially the suet pudding, fish and chips, sticky toffee pudding and rice pudding. All delicious and beautifully presented. It’s right opposite the start of an amazing fell run. Can’t wait to come back!

The landlord was so helpful, going out of his way to give us directions and points of interest for our journey. The food was wonderful, well-priced and served quickly. The pub had a lovely cosy atmosphere, with real fires burning. Highly recommend.

The short rib and smash burger were both great, properly cooked, full of flavour and clearly made with care. Drinks were spot on too. Even though it was out of season, the attention to detail and service were still there, and we felt well looked after without it feeling forced. Great food and drinks. I’d happily come back and recommend it.

We didn’t stay here, but ate at the restaurant twice on our last trip to the lakes. The staff were so friendly and made us feel at home. It has a lovely atmosphere that never felt chaotic, and the open fires were a treat after a long, cold day. The food was amazing. I didn’t expect that level of flavour in a little pub. We’ll go back on future trips to Grasmere. Thank you, travellers rest team, for the experience 🥰

We came looking for lunch on a wet day and were warmly welcomed, then seated near a glowing fire. The lunch was delicious, and the staff and service were welcoming and prompt. We’ll come again!
