The kids’ portions are generous enough that one meal fed my 2 year old and 1 year old, with a bit left for the dog. We’re always happy with the value, and the food is lovely. I usually stick to scampi, hunters chicken or a burger, but tried the cajan chicken steak last time and really enjoyed it. They’re so thoughtful with the children too. When my daughter had ice cream, a lovely gentleman brought sprinkles, marshmallows and chocolate sauce from the kitchen, which made her day. They even offer to cook some meat for our dog. We love coming here for a family meal, it’s pretty much the only place we go now.

Breakfast after a lovely dog walk was superb, with friendly staff and a great choice of gluten and dairy free options. We stayed in a comfortable room with our dog, in this characterful traditional pub with plenty of rooms. Waking up to snow in such a pretty village was a treat.

Breakfast had plenty to choose from, and dinner with our visiting friends was lovely in a great atmosphere. The staff were so friendly and polite, and couldn't do enough for us. Matt was especially helpful and friendly. We stayed one night with our dog since the inn is dog friendly. The room was comfy, with decor that suited the place, and the bed was really comfortable too. We’ll certainly go back.

The ales were beautifully kept, with a wide range that would make this a heaven for real ale drinkers. We stopped for lunch on our first visit, and it was superb, beautifully cooked and served in substantial portions. It’s a wonderful country pub, and if we lived here it would certainly be our local, despite the 11 hour drive north from home. It won’t be our last visit.

The kitchen had closed just after we arrived, but they kindly made us sandwiches. It’s an old, warm, welcoming pub where dogs are allowed inside. There are plenty of standard lagers, ciders and ales on offer.
