OYO Belvedere Guest House, Great Yarmouth

The place looks shut down. Agodaa agreed to a refund, but the hotel refused it. They’re committing fraud by taking your money when you can’t get in.

The room was cold and uncomfortable, and there was almost no soundproofing. We could hear everyone coming and going in the building. The mattress was only a couple of millimetres thick, and the window handle was broken. We were told there’d be a fan and hairdryer, but neither was there. The TV remote was grim and didn’t seem to have ever been cleaned. In the shower, pressure was practically nonexistent and there was hair on the wall and in the tray. Its door wouldn’t close properly, and the broken handle was covered in masking tape. The hotel needs a good clean and maintenance. At times, with the bedroom window open, there was a sewage stench. There aren’t enough parking spaces for the rooms, and there’s very little street parking.

I’ve stayed here lots of times, usually in the same room. I don’t know why people in these reviews have trouble getting in, the instructions are sent to you. Last night I was on the top floor in heavy rain when the ceiling started leaking. I contacted customer service, and they immediately sent someone out and changed my room. It’s a simple place, but it does its job satisfactorily. I’ll stay again, probably this week.

The room hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guest: dirty towels, half-drunk coffee cups, an unmade bed and a bin full of rubbish. I didn’t stay and checked into another hotel. Customer service was useless and very hard to reach. I think they’re in India. After two hours, they finally said they’d clean the room tomorrow. When I asked for a refund, they blamed me for the state of the room. I expect this will end up in court.
