Be ready to loosen your belt after meals, because the portions are never small. We had a superb weekend at The Gables for a wedding, and the food all weekend was easily the best we've ever had. Five stars to the chef. The staff were friendly, relaxed and helpful. Many thanks for a lovely stay, we'd highly recommend it.

Even without a booking, they found us a room straight away. It was spacious, clean and comfortable, and the service was friendly. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. For a small surcharge, we could also stay past our booking time to get dressed and ready for our wedding. Lovely people, peaceful setting, with plenty of sights and places to eat nearby. Highly recommended.

Third visit this week, this time for our wedding, and the staff were fantastic again. They couldn't do enough for us, and the evening buffet was enormous, enough to feed a small army. We've been here twice before too, and every stay has been lovely. We'll be back!

I booked three nights for a wedding in gretna green and received both a booking confirmation and a message from the property on Expedia. When I arrived to check in, nobody was there, and no one answered the phone. Everywhere else was booked up, so I was left stranded.

We were staying nearby and came to this hotel for an evening meal. The staff were really welcoming and friendly. I can highly recommend the steak and ale pie with seasonal vegetables. A must if you're after a warm welcome, good food and excellent service.
