Arden House

Mark and Jan made a fantastic breakfast, enough that we didn’t need lunch. Jan gave us a lovely warm welcome, parking was easy, and the town centre is in a great location nearby. Harrogate has loads of excellent independent coffee shops, so just coffee was all we needed.

The breakfast was out of this world, with loads to choose from, all fresh and beautifully cooked and presented. Our room at Arden House was clean, spacious and just right. It’s only a short walk into town and all its amenities. Jan and Mark were amazing hosts, welcoming us and sharing their knowledge of Harrogate, including places to visit, things to do and spots to eat and drink. Harry's walking tours is a must. The location is handy, with public transport a short walk away and cafés, shops and parks nearby. It’s also easy to reach major attractions without being in the middle of tourist crowds. I found the stay comfortable and calm, with thoughtful details throughout. The rooms were tastefully understated, and the bed was a highlight, with crisp, fresh-feeling linen and a comfortable level of softness. Blackout curtains and adjustable lights helped make for a restful night. There was good storage, a well-equipped workspace, several outlets and reliable Wi-Fi. The bathroom had modern fittings, a rainfall shower with strong water pressure, soft robes, a dependable hairdryer and premium toiletries. Staff were attentive without hovering and greeted guests warmly, using names when they could. Check-in was efficient, and the team gave clear information about amenities, dining and transport. Housekeeping cleaned thoroughly and replenished supplies carefully, sometimes leaving small extras. The concierge offered tailored recommendations and helped with transport and restaurant bookings. Room service was prompt, with hot, well-prepared food, and staff stayed calm even at busy times.

We were in town for a cycling sportive and stayed for two nights. Mark and Jan went out of their way to help, including locking our bikes in the shed. With our 6am start, Mark even got up early to make bacon sandwiches, which we hadn’t asked for. The room was very clean, with everything we needed, a comfy bed and a great shower. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, a full English with plenty of toast. Jan’s homemade jam is well worth trying. There’s private parking, and the town is an easy walk away. We’ll definitely stay here again.
