Cocketts Hotel

There were three of us, and we got such a lovely greeting when we arrived. Even the resident cat was purring. It was a warm, friendly stay and really good value. We're already thinking about when to come back. Highly recommended.

The first room they showed us was awful, with a bad smell, poor cleanliness, and damp and mold throughout, especially in the bathroom. The mattresses felt worn out, with every spring noticeable just from sitting down. On the way up, we had already seen a dirty carpet at the bottom of the stairs and torn carpet on the steps. When I raised the problems, the response from front of house was, “what were you expecting”. The alternative room wasn't clean or habitable either, and we found hairs on the bedding. We left without staying and weren't given a refund. The place needs cleaning and renovation.

We had a lovely two-night stay at Cocketts Hotel and really enjoyed it. The rooms were cosy, with excellent tea and coffee supplies, and there was ample parking. The host was superb, especially for turning on the heating, as I feel the cold. It's in a great spot for lots of interesting places. I highly recommend this little gem of a hotel.

The room was small, but clean and perfectly serviceable, with tea, coffee and biscuits provided. We slept well even though it faced the main road, since we didn't hear any noise. The location is excellent, and breakfast had plenty of choice and was a good size. The young woman working reception and breakfast was very nice. I'd definitely stay again if I visit. Thank you.
