The building and location were nice enough, but it felt like our prebooked arrival was a nuisance to the staff. We only stayed one night, and their attitude was hard to believe. Breakfast was woeful too: we waited 15 minutes for someone to come and serve us, and the food was poor. At least we had a lovely dinner at Brodies in the town centre. It brought back memories of Scottish hospitality from 40 years ago. I thought things had moved on.

Poppy snoozing in the bar is just too cute, and the sofas and television make the place feel relaxed. I love the decor when you arrive, and the owners are really friendly. We've stayed twice in the past two months and will be back. The rooms are spotless and well maintained, and the chef cooks breakfast to perfection with real talent. The building itself is amazing and clearly well looked after. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Hawick is just a short walk from the hotel. We really enjoyed our three nights here, with clean, quiet rooms that were a good size and had everything we needed. Breakfast was very good too, with quality ingredients and plenty of variety.

Finding the hotel takes a look at the map, since it's not actually on the road Google places it on. The room was large and in reasonable condition, and breakfast was good. The en-suite could use more space for toiletries, and the shower in room 7 was noisy enough to wake the dead. Still, I'd return if I visited Hawick again.

The gardens are lush, the lodge and hotel are beautiful and spotless, and the staff and owners were great. The food was excellent, and I couldn't have asked for a better stay. I wanted to steal the mattress! I've already booked for next year. Just two things were missing: there was no iron or ironing board in the lodge, and the room had no information about hotel facilities, like breakfast or meal times. Thanks, guys.
