The staff were great, and we had a lovely stay with a cozy bedroom and lounge areas, plus a good breakfast and a lovely garden. The lamb main at dinner was quite small for £29, though. Outside, a very strong diesel smell hung around the street over the weekend, especially Friday, and made me cough. It was really unpleasant, but fortunately the smell didn’t get into the hotel. Apparently it’s an urban canyon effect, with Friday deliveries, especially in winter, leaving the diesel to settle in town without escaping. It wasn’t the hotel’s fault.

After a lovely wander around the bookshops, we stayed last night and found the location perfect and the price very good. The bed was comfy, the room was lovely, and the night was completely silent. Dinner had a hiccup, but the staff sorted it quickly and professionally, so it didn’t spoil our stay. The food was yummy, and the hot chocolate was the best I’ve ever had. Great service too. I’d definitely come back. Ignore the negative nancies, the swan is worth staying at!

The food was so good, and they catered well for both our dietary issues. Tina was the icing on the cake, thank you! My daughter and I had a wonderful weekend at The Swan At Hay. The staff were friendly and incredibly helpful, always attentive without going over the top. Our room was immaculate and the beds were sooo comfortable. We hope to see you again soon. The best part of our wonderful stay at the Swan at Hay was the team. They were friendly and attentive, made us feel welcome, and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was lovely, the location was great, and the rooms were comfortable. Well done to the amazing team.

We had Christmas lunch at The Swan today and can’t fault it. There was plenty of meat and vegetables, all cooked well, and the food was lovely. Adrian and his team gave superb service, and it was real value for money.
