Our room looked out across the bridge and river, and being right in the middle of the village made getting around easy. The owner showed us how everything worked, then let us get on with things, which suited us perfectly. Breakfast was self-serve, and having a washer and tumble dryer was a real help with children along. A lovely little B&B with everything well set up.

The owner even drove me when the Sunday train from Haydon’s Bridge was cancelled, and he was happy to answer any questions too. I slept incredibly well in the quiet, peaceful room, which was comfortable. A real find in Northern England. I’d gladly come back when I’m next visiting Hadrian’s Wall. Thanks for such a restful stay.

We were there in May, so this is a late review. The beds were comfy, the shower was good, and we got useful suggestions for places to eat nearby. Breakfast was an informal, well-stocked continental self-serve setup. It’s also centrally placed for visiting Hadrians Wall. Liz and Ian

Management was lovely and accommodating, and there was space in the fridge for each room, with plenty of coffee presses and grounds supplied. Breakfast was light, as expected. My wife usually struggles to sleep on hotel beds that are too soft, but Room #1 worked for her. I prefer a pillowtop and slept fine too. We both have allergies, yet had no trouble breathing in the room. We were very happy with the stay and would stay here again without question if we return to visit the "family castles".

Brian clearly takes pride in the rooms and enjoys meeting guests. He seems pleased when people say they’ll come back, and I can see why. We stayed two nights at the reading room, and it worked perfectly as a base for walking hadrian's wall or fishing in the Tyne. Brian was easy to deal with, the room was clean, the bed comfortable, and all cooking facilities were available. Highly recommended.
