We stopped for a pub dinner on the way home and had a very pleasant evening. The food was excellent and came out quickly despite it being fairly busy. Staff were welcoming, helpful and attentive, and the Christmas decorations made the pub feel cheerful. Extra points for proper custard! There’s a large car park for visitors. We didn’t stay at the hotel, so I can’t comment on it. We’ll definitely come again.

The bar staff are excellent and the service is always great, but the food was a real disappointment this time. I hadn’t been in several months, and it didn’t match the quality I’d enjoyed here over many years. The menu is much smaller, likely due to cost cutting. The ribs are gone, and although a table sign says pizza Thursday to Saturday, I was told it’s only available Friday and Saturday. The chips tasted like cheap frozen ones from a low-budget catering van. In my fish and chips, five bones were all at one end of the fish. At £19 for fish, chips and peas, they should be removed. I hope the food improves to match the service. I’ll give it a few months, and fingers crossed my next review is more positive.

We stayed at the Wheatsheaf for a couple of nights recently and loved it. The place was clean and comfortable, the food was great, and the staff were polite and really helpful. I’ll definitely be back.

The room was clean and very well stocked, and the housekeeper was incredibly welcoming and offered lots of services. The ladies in the pub were cheerful, kind and helpful. Staff were amazing, and we had a great stay.

We had lunch with a group of eight in the lovely little back room, which gave us space to catch up. The staff were attentive without hovering, and the delicious food arrived in good time. It was great value too. There’s plenty of parking, and we’ll be back.
