Gallen-Treath Guest House

I’ve just had my second stay with Clive and Alicia, and I’ll definitely be back. They’re incredibly accommodating, and breakfast is superb, with thoughtful touches for each guest’s tastes and preferences. The location works perfectly for diving, and this is a trip I always look forward to seeing on my calendar.

I was delighted with my stay and would happily recommend this B&B. My large single room had stunning views across the bay, and guests can also use a lounge with a big balcony and equally lovely views. Clive and Alicia are welcoming, chatty hosts, and they were fine with my request to switch off the radio at breakfast. The breakfast was delicious and had plenty to choose from. My only slight disappointment was that an automated email asking several questions went unanswered when I replied with a question about a possible late check-in. I wasn’t sure how long the journey would take, so a reply would have helped me plan more flexibly. Otherwise, it was a great stay at a very reasonable price in a beautiful location.

Alicia and Clive were lovely hosts, and I’ll definitely return. The room’s courtesy tray was generously stocked with different teas, coffees, and hot chocolate. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless, the ventilation was excellent, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was superb, and they also had some nice options for an evening meal.

If you’re walking the southwest coast path and this fits your route, it’s a must, especially with so few alternatives. The hosts are remarkably nice, the views are great, and it’s friendly to dogs, kids, and hikers. The place is a little eccentric, and the house feels like a time machine to another era. The rooms aren’t modern, and the experience isn’t refined. It may not suit most people, particularly if you’re on a car holiday and don’t want unusual accommodation, but it did the job for my hike.
