The Watermill Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by Best

We had a lovely weekend at the Watermill. The hotel is in the middle of a „Rosamunde Pilcher Area“, and there's a nearby train connection to Euston Station. The staff are very friendly, and the English breakfast is delicious.

The breakfast selection was broad, but the options themselves were poor. For a Best Western, this was shockingly bad. Our room was in a poor state of repair, and the broken window catches meant the windows wouldn't shut properly, so road noise was loud all night. There was also an unbearable smell of what seemed like dying rodents, perhaps behind the bath or sink unit. It hit us as soon as we opened the bathroom door. The draught from the windows helped air it out.

The rooms and full breakfast were fabulous, and the value was superb. The staff were welcoming and friendly without exception, and they go above and beyond. I don't know how they manage it, but please keep doing what you're doing. Thank you so much!

The staff were really friendly. The guy at reception and the lady who showed me the room were both pleasant, and the young man checking and cleaning rooms in the morning was especially polite and kind. The room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable, and the price felt fair. It is a bit outdated, though. The curtains are horrible, and the windows don't shut properly, so there's a draft along with the outside door. There are two pubs across the street, a bar and terrace at the hotel, a bus stop right outside, and a big parking area with enough spaces. The bathroom is roomy, but there were several problems: the door creaks loudly enough to wake anyone, there was no hot water at the sink, and the toilet flush was so weak it barely cleared even urine. A few times it didn't refill at all. The shower curtain has mold stains and smells awful. The shower head is fixed, so you can't wash your body without getting your hair wet. A flexible head would be better. The terrace could be a real hit with a bit of care and cleaning. Fresh plants would be better than the dry or artificial ones there now. The windows are covered in cobwebs, and the umbrella looks like it hasn't been cleaned since it was installed, with cobwebs and debris all over it. A few events could help liven up the place. If you need a manager with vision to refresh it, I'm available for the right compensation. For the price, it's acceptable.
