Queens Arms

A handy place to stop, with well appointed rooms, plenty of parking, friendly staff and enjoyable food. The atmosphere is nice too, though when the bar gets busy it can be hard to have a conversation there.

We had such a relaxing time here. The food and atmosphere are both amazing, and it's a lovely area for a walk after dinner, especially on summer evenings when you can see bunnies in the field. There's a local playground too. A little gem, I love it!

Feb 2026 Update: We had another lovely meal at The Queen's Arms. The new menu was delicious all round. The only small irritation was having to make our way through the locals gathered at the bar to reach the restaurant. They didn't seem inclined to move, and it felt like we were a nuisance for trying to pass. We come here regularly for the good food, pleasant atmosphere, reasonable prices compared with other local pubs, and helpful, friendly staff. Sometimes the bar is crowded with locals and their dogs, which is a bit of a pain, though at the table you don't really notice them. That is, unless there's a sports event showing on the TVs in the bar. We've never stayed overnight, so can't comment on the rooms.

The setting is lovely, and the staff were really helpful. We booked two rooms for one night, and both were lively, well stocked and nicely laid out. We didn't hear any noise. The bar was great and the food excellent. We were staying because of a theatre production in Newbury, but I'd come back here for another stay. Thanks so much.
