The receptionist was lovely and suggested things to do and places to eat. We followed her recommendation and visited the ‘Crocodile Zoo’, which was great. There had been an incident involving an ambulance and police before we arrived, but it didn’t affect our stay, and the hotel apologised for any inconvenience and handled it professionally. Our room was a good size with a big, comfortable bed, and the hotel was clean and looked after. The toiletries and coffee station were stocked, and everything in the room worked. The shower worked, but the pressure was low and the water wasn’t very hot. There weren’t many sockets, none beside the bed or under the TV. The bar stays open until 11pm and is well priced for the area, and residents can use the games room with pool and sofas. Breakfast was simple and nice, with cereal, toast and pastries. The hotel was perfectly placed for a stop while driving down the country, next to the road but far enough away that we couldn’t hear traffic. There’s also a fuel station and Indian restaurant in the same complex.

The staff were really friendly, and the bar had some air con and very reasonable drink prices. I can’t say anything about breakfast because I didn’t have any. The place is a dump, though at least it’s clean. The rooms smell funky, the keys are awkward to use, and the bathroom feels like a cupboard. During the heatwave it was stifling even before I turned on the shower. There’s no air con, and the top-floor windows barely open. The surface of the sun would be cooler!

The room was clean and had everything I needed, and it was quiet outside. Reception staff were friendly, and for a small fee I could check in early. The main letdowns were that the room looked completely different from the booking photos and the WiFi was weak.

Lisa at reception made this stay five-star for me. She was so lovely and helpful, and when I said the fan in our room didn’t seem to work, she brought a replacement straight up. She helped in lots of little ways and made me feel special. Nothing was too much trouble. It’s a breath of fresh air to meet someone who goes the extra mile, and Lisa deserves a raise. The hotel itself is fairly basic, but very clean and quite comfortable, with everything we needed for an overnight stay.
