I loved the room, and the bed was comfortable, but the stay left me disappointed. I booked four nights and paid for breakfast, which was good, though there wasn’t much of it. I felt I had to be careful about what I put on my plate in case there wasn’t enough cooked breakfast left for others. As a solo traveller, I was especially upset that nobody mentioned evening food or the bar, and there were no menus or information in my room about the hotel’s facilities. I only saw one other diner on my last night. I wanted to eat in the hotel, but instead had to go out in Inverness each evening. It gave me the impression that staff thought it was beneath them to tell guests what was available. I spent several hundred pounds elsewhere that the hotel could have earned. I’d recommend staying for the lovely rooms, but that’s about it.

The rooms at the River Ness Hotel, Inverness were spotless, beautifully kept, and seemed brand new. The whole property felt welcoming, with a real sense of care in the cleanliness and comfort. What made the biggest difference for our family was Chinmai, the Hotel Staff Shift Incharge. She greeted us warmly before we’d even seen our rooms, and her kindness, professionalism, and genuine attention immediately put us at ease. She made sure we felt informed and valued throughout our stay, and we felt confident we were in good hands from the start. Her outstanding service was the reason we decided to extend our time in Inverness. Chinmai is a real asset to the hotel, and we’re sincerely grateful she made our stay so memorable. We highly recommend the hotel.

The facilities were solid, and my room and bathroom were clean, comfortable, and well designed during my two nights at River Ness Inverness. Still, the service made the stay feel more uncomfortable than relaxing. Housekeeping wasn’t regular unless requested, which I didn’t realize was part of a special program. Breakfast was inconsistent too: one day coffee was available for self-service at the counter, the next I had to ask, with no explanation. The staff seemed to outnumber the guests and were often around in a way that felt supervisory. There wasn’t much smiling, and at times I felt like an inconvenience rather than a welcome guest. I’m a Radisson member but got no special benefits, and I’m not sure I’d choose this hotel again. The service felt uneven and overly controlled.

The hotel is so close to the train and bus stations, shops, bars, and lovely restaurants. We went to the highlander each night because the live music was so good. The reception man also went out of his way to book us a Loch Ness Cruise trip and arrange a taxi. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and the place was clean throughout. Our room was amazing, with a comfy bed and blackout curtains that made it hard to get up! My partner was celebrating his birthday, and the card, chocolates, and balloons from the staff were such a lovely touch. We can’t wait to come back. Thanks to all the staff for the hard work.

The location was great, and the bed was comfortable, but I won’t stay here again. I’d been excited after reading the reviews and even switched from another hotel I’d booked, so the stay was a letdown. There was a very strong scent in the lobby. In my first room on the third floor, the smell of incense oil mixed with cleaner and air freshener was so overpowering it gave me an instant headache. I opened the window, then went down a few minutes later to ask for another room. The woman who helped was very sweet and found one for me. Unfortunately, that room had a footprint on the sheets, as if someone in a boot had stood on the bed to fix something. There was a large wet patch beside one side of the bed, plus a red mark on the carpet or wall and more reddish marks across the room that looked possibly like blood. The chair at the desk was filthy. The glass water bottle had also already been opened and refilled. I later learned this is their practice, and I understand they’re trying to be environmentally conscious, but it seemed unsanitary to me. Since it was late and I was only staying one night, I didn’t ask to move again. The room could have made for a good stay if it had been in better condition.
