This was our favourite place to stay in all of Scotland. It was affordable, clean and beautiful, and we were so glad we chose it. We even took family photos with Barra Castle in the background. The shop next door served the best breakfast we had on the whole trip.

We stayed in the Ramsay lodge, with patio doors opening straight onto the garden in the castle grounds. It was well equipped, with a great kitchen and living room, plus a lovely bedroom and bathroom. The accommodation was excellent, and the location really impressed us. We had a lovely meal at the Barra farm shop cafe, where the food was locally sourced. It was worth the 6.5 hours' drive, and I'd highly recommend it.

The cafe next door was delicious, with everything fresh. The berries were fabulous, including the strawberries, some of the best I've ever eaten. We live in a city that's supposed to be the strawberry capital of the world, but I beg to differ. We had a lovely one-night stay in a great location. The buildings are very old and full of history, but the rooms had all been upgraded with fabulous design. We were delighted by the great water pressure.

Sarah, the host, had everything ready when we arrived and replied to my messages straight away. The lodge is a short distance from Inverurie, where we had dinner at Fennel Restaurant on Saturday. The next morning we got coffee and a croissant from the Barra farm shop and took them on a walk around the castle grounds. We stayed one night in the Seton Lodge at Barra Castle. It was stunning inside, very modern but still had a countryside feel, and sat right outside Barra Castle, which we could see as we came onto the premises. Parking right outside was convenient. The lodge was very clean and had plenty of bathroom supplies, including Arran Aromatics products. The kitchen had everything needed. We made chocolate dipped strawberries during our visit. The bed was very comfortable, with a skylight above it for stargazing. A fantastic stay, and one I'd recommend.

We had a very comfortable stay in the Gatehouse. I'd absolutely recommend the Lodges at Barra Castle. Breakfast at the farm shop the next morning was very good.
