Nox Kensington

We were really pleased with the family suite. It was clean, and the bedding was very comfortable. The staff were attentive and helpful, too. With a subway station nearby and plenty of shops for groceries or shopping close by, the location was convenient. Highly recommended!

For the price and location, it was a good place to stay for one night. The staff were very friendly, and the property was clean. The bed was fairly comfortable and I slept well. It’s about a ten minute walk to the nearest Tube station. The main frustration was the shower. Its support bar was completely detached, so I had to hold the shower head while using it. The water pressure and temperature were fine, but the setup wasn’t. The TV also didn’t work properly. I suspect the remote was the problem rather than the TV itself, though it didn’t bother me too much. My room was at number 83 across the road, not in the advertised building at 88 Holland Road. That wasn’t a big deal for me, but anyone with mobility issues might find it inconvenient to go outside and cross the road to reach the physical reception. The hotel might be able to accommodate someone by changing their room, but I can’t say for sure.

The room was clean, and the price is very good for London. The kitchenette could have been a plus, but the place smelled strongly of smoke and damp, and the coffee machine leaked over the counter. I found the towels on a very high cupboard shelf, and the whole bale fell on me when I tried to reach it. I’m 5’3. My room was in a separate property across the road, and getting in involved a ridiculous door arrangement, with one open door blocking the actual room door. The room was tiny compared with the online pictures. I could hear every word of the neighbours’ argument and the stomping from upstairs. There’s no phone access to reception, just a WhatsApp group number. Oh dear. I wanted to like the place, but I guess you get what you pay for.

It was our 15th wedding anniversary, and we were delighted with the stay. I hadn’t expected much when I booked, so arriving and finding such a nice place was a real surprise. The rooms were clean, the facilities were wonderful, and the staff were really friendly. The service was wonderful too. One word for it: wonderful. I recommend it and will hopefully be back soon.
