Kerswell Farmhouse

We really enjoyed chatting with Graham and Nichola in their book-lined study and over breakfast. Both were very friendly, and Graham kindly stayed up without any fuss when our London train was delayed and we arrived late. The room was exceptional, with gorgeous countryside views. Breakfast was home-cooked Devonshire fare, especially lovely farmhouse sausages and apple compote to start. A car would help you make the most of the area, though we walked to nearby Tuckenhay for riverside pub stops. Totnes is about 20 minutes by taxi, costing around £25-29. We’d happily stay again and recommend it.

Stayed here in September and it was a wonderful, luxurious break. The hosts were so kind and lovely, and breakfast was excellent. I’d come back in a flash and hope to do so soon.

We were sorry to leave after a most enjoyable five-night stay for our 40th wedding anniversary. Nicola & Graham were friendly, helpful and made us feel welcome, as they did the other guests staying there. Nothing was too much trouble. And their black labrador Ben is ever so friendly and fussy, showing you his toy collection. Our room was the converted milking shed, renovated over the years to a very high standard. It was clean and tidy, with crisp bedding and fluffy towels. Breakfast in the farmhouse had plenty of hot and cold options, or you could choose something else. I had the full breakfast every morning, with different starters. Everything was fresh and local, including sausage and bacon from their pigs and eggs from their hens. Absolutely gorgeous. The front room had a superb view, and Graham’s decor came from his collection from when he worked abroad. The lanes to get there are very narrow, so you have to pull in when traffic approaches. It’s give and take, and adds to the adventure. Excellent experience, one to try. We’d definitely stay again.

Graham and Nichola have made a little countryside paradise, with lovely gardens, stunning views and a great breakfast. Kerswell Farmhouse is the quintessential B&B experience, a UK take on Tuscany. And the hosts are amazing.
