Whenever I’m in Kilmarnock, usually once a month, I try to book this place if there’s a room. It’s one of my favourite B&Bs in Scotland. The hosts are fantastic, breakfast is fabulous, and the rooms are comfortable with all the facilities you’d expect.

We stayed in Room 6 for one night. It’s a small, cosy en-suite room, clean and tidy, with a comfortable made-up bed, plenty of little-item storage, snacks and fresh milk in the fridge. The attic room got warm on one of the spring’s hottest days, but opening the windows and using the overhead fan helped. The windows were easy to open. Breakfast has cereals, fruit and a Full Scottish Breakfast. Freddie cooked it to our preferences, including the fried and scrambled eggs, and served everything graciously. He was lovely throughout. Before we arrived, he used the booking system to collect our details and arrival time, then met us at the door, went over the formalities and breakfast time, showed us the room and handed over the keys. Great location and excellent value. Thanks!

The breakfast had a good range to choose from, and the host was friendly and happy to help with anything. We only stayed one night, but this would also make a great base for exploring the surrounding area over a longer visit.

It’s an easy walk to the town centre, and the train station is close by. The service was excellent, with a really welcoming and helpful approach.

Dean guest house has lovely gardens, and the eggs were some of the freshest I’ve had. I especially enjoyed the soft scrambled eggs. Freddie looked after us both mornings and was a delight, with the other hosts just as friendly. Before we arrived, they got in touch to ask about dietary restrictions for breakfast. They also gave us helpful pointers about where things were and how to get there. I’d happily recommend this little B&B type place.
